Festival Place Multi-Storey Car Park
Following on from Oakmont Construction’s successful delivery of numerous new shop frontages, a new piazza, and
a new grand entrance at the busy Festival Place shopping complex in Basingstoke, we successfully secured further
phases of work, including this scheme to demolish and reconstruction car park one above the A3010.
Our remit on this phase comprised the demolition of the top three levels of the existing concrete frame car park
down to bridge deck level, whilst the primary bridge deck and the access link structure were retained and repaired.
The new car park is six storeys high with a steel split ramped deck structure and composite in-situ permanent
concrete slabs. The elevations are clad with a kinetic façade on a steel frame. Our works also included electrical
installations, ticketing facilities, lighting, surfacing works and white lining.
This project was logistically challenging as numerous traffic and pedestrian routes were in close proximity to the
works and remained live when it was safe for them to be. We worked in close contact with the Highways Authority,
Basingstoke and Deane Brough Council, and centre management to manage night road closures the loading of
steel onto the deck. Thanks to our stringent approach we were able to mitigated disruption to retailers, shoppers
and the wider local community.
